The Knowing – Doing gap

The Knowing – Doing gap

Have you ever been to the doctor for a check-up and they tell you that you need to exercise more, eat better or reduce your stress?  Chances are, your first response is “yeah, I know”.

The majority of us know that there are certain things that we should be doing, but aren’t.  Perhaps we justify this to ourselves by saying that we will start tomorrow, or that the timing isn’t quite right.  But the end result is the same, we don’t do some of the stuff that we know we should be doing.

This is the Knowing – Doing gap

There are many causes of the knowing – doing gap, but in this fantastic Ted Talk by Tim Urban covers one particular cause, one that we are all guilty of at some point.  This is both hilarious and insightful, and offeres a simple explanation as to why sometimes, you don’t do the things that you know you should.  It’s well worth a watch!
